The Moorings and the Greek Islands

All you folks know that Marie and I chartered Water Lily in the British Virgin Islands, and how much we loved those islands. Well we knew the owners of the Moorings on Tortola, and we knew about all the bare boats they rented out. Okay, please keep that in mind while I digress here.

As most of you know, Marie and I live out in the country here in Florida. We have to  go to town (Sebring) for our shopping, the Post Office, and all those other cool things cities offer. One of the things we thoroughly enjoy is having breakfast at the Lakeview Restaurant and Lounge, owned and operated by two Greek gentlemen, Michael and Thio. This way, we get off to a great start on an othe3rwise hectic day of shopping.

One morning, our paper placemat featured Greece and the Greek islands. I asked our waitress for a fresh placemat I could take to use in this post. I looked at all those islands around Greece and thought it would be a terrific area for cruising. I got on the Internet and checked out The Moorings. Oh, Boy, they have an office in Athens. So this might be worth looking into for some of you adventurous souls. Take a look! IMG_1684

George and his wife, Marie, sailed professionally, chartering boats in the Bahamas, then in the Virgin Islands. They then leased an uninhabited island, Little Thatch, in the British Virgin Islands, and turned it into a small hotel. After six years, they left the island and bought a lovely beachfront property on Jost Van Dyke (BVI) where they built Sandcastle Hotel and the original Soggy Dollar Bar. George is now the author of Incredible Virgin Island Adventure: A True Story.
