Harvest Moon

On Wednesday night, Sept. 22, My wife Marie and I watched the bright Harvest Moon, with the planet Jupiter nearby.Luckily, we had heard about it on TV. The full moon occurred on the same night as the fall equinox (whatever that is) Apparently this hasn’t happened since 1991 and will not happen again until 2029, according to astronomer, Tony Phillips in a NASA announcement.  Marie and I won’t be around to see that one, I’m sure!

This was a thrilling sight. The full moon was huge, about half again its normal size. While we were watching this, a plane’s jet stream appeared heading at the planet. It must have been a thrilling sight for the passengers!

My puny little digital camera only capture two lights that I won’t even bother printing out.

George and his wife, Marie, sailed professionally, chartering boats in the Bahamas, then in the Virgin Islands. They then leased an uninhabited island, Little Thatch, in the British Virgin Islands, and turned it into a small hotel. After six years, they left the island and bought a lovely beachfront property on Jost Van Dyke (BVI) where they built Sandcastle Hotel and the original Soggy Dollar Bar. George is now the author of Incredible Virgin Island Adventure: A True Story.

    • Thank you, Susan, I will definitely look into the followers gizmo…it sounds exciting. Right now I have a problem with WordPress. It won’t let me Publish anything!!!! I have a friend who is a real computer guru. I hope he can find the time to come and help me with this exasperating problem. He may also be able to take care of the “followers” button you told me about. Or, as you suggest, maybe Patti can talk me through the process, via email.
By not Publishing for some time, I am afraid I am losing readers and I don’t have that many to start with.
I am so glad you are enjoying my posts….and I have a couple of controversial ones coming up. They may generate a wee bit of flack.
